The sleek, slanted legs extending from the bottom of a table at One Workplace, made from parts of the old Bay Bridge. Industrial but warmly colored.

One Workplace is an office furniture company based in Santa Clara, CA, USA. Having worked in their warehouse for five years, I grew to appreciate the people behind the scenes—the ones who loaded and unloaded trucks for delivery to customer sites, the installers filing in and out, handling and delivering the product customers would then experience firsthand. Quite the invaluable—and invisible—part of the process: this labor force of receivers and installers. It would be a shame to let the customers go about their lives thinking it all happened at the flick of a switch.

The first of two video projects that momentarily alleviated me of my own physical labor duties was the short film above: a process video demonstrating the install team's build of an entire modular cubicle unit (on a Saturday), just to see how it looked, measure it, get the hang of the construction, and then tear it all back down before reinstalling at the customer site as part of a bid for the job.

I don't want to make any overblown conclusions but... In chronological timeline order: 1. the video was shown to the customer, and 2. the customer selected One Workplace to furnish their office.

The "OWP: Bay Bridge Table" video was produced as part of a planned series highlighting various employees of the company and their favorite projects or pieces of furniture around the office.

I left the company to pursue schooling shortly after finishing this video, but created a style guide and hefty set of instructions for producing videos in case they wanted to maintain the precedent I'd set.
